Lionheart Karate Association Philippines, Inc. (LKAP), operating under the name Lionheart Karatedo Club, is a registered martial arts federation in the Philippines dedicated to the promotion and propagation of traditional Japanese Karate. Established in 1996 by Shihan Rodolfo Salinas, the organization has grown from humble beginnings into a respected name in both traditional and sport Karate.

Today, Lionheart Karatedo Club is led by Sensei Alrey Joseph Mesias, who serves as Chairman and Chief Instructor. Following the passing of Shihan Salinas, leadership of the organization was entrusted to Sensei Alrey Joseph Mesias, who assumed the role of Chairman and Chief Instructor. Determined to continue his mentor’s legacy, Sensei Joseph pursued further development by attending numerous seminars and training sessions under esteemed masters in Japan, including Shihan Yokota Kousaku.
In 2020, Lionheart Karatedo Club officially became a member of the Asai Shotokan Association International (ASAI), marking a significant milestone in its journey. Sensei Joseph was appointed as the Country Representative of ASAI in the Philippines, strengthening the club’s connection to the global Shotokan community.
Despite challenges over the years, Lionheart continued to grow and expand its reach. In April 2026, the organization took another major step forward with the launch of its Hong Kong branch, managed by Sensei Kristine Batoctoy, further establishing its presence internationally.
Today, Lionheart Karatedo Club stands as a testament to perseverance and dedication. It has produced highly skilled practitioners who have earned recognition and awards in both national and international competitions, gaining acknowledgment from various respected organizations worldwide.

Lionheart Karatedo Club is a proud member of the Asai Shotokan Association International (ASAI), founded by Shihan Yokota Kousaku. This affiliation reinforces Lionheart’s commitment to preserving and practicing the highest standards of traditional Shotokan Karate.
In 2020, the organization formally joined ASAI, and Sensei Alrey Joseph Mesias was appointed as the Country Representative of ASAI in the Philippines, strengthening Lionheart’s role within the international Shotokan community.
Through its connection with ASAI, Lionheart has deepened its understanding of Budo Karate, enriching both the technical and philosophical aspects of its practice. The organization has provided invaluable guidance and insight, helping uncover and clarify deeper principles of the art.
For Sensei Joseph, this affiliation has played a significant role in his development as a martial artist and instructor. Through seminars, training, and direct mentorship under esteemed masters, many advanced and often less-visible aspects of Karate have been revealed and refined—knowledge that he continues to pass on to his students.
Today, Lionheart consistently practices and upholds ASAI principles and methodologies, with a strong emphasis on the proper execution and preservation of traditional Shotokan katas as taught within the organization. Through this, the club ensures that its training remains authentic, disciplined, and deeply rooted in tradition while continuing to grow within the global Karate community.
While Lionheart Karatedo Club has remained firmly rooted in the traditions of Budo Karate since its founding, it has also consistently demonstrated excellence in the world of competitive sport Karate. The organization actively participates in numerous high-profile tournaments each year, continually bringing home gold medals and prestigious awards.
In 2024, Lionheart represented the Philippines at the Taiwan Formosa Cup, where its athletes delivered outstanding performances and earned multiple awards and trophies on the international stage. This achievement highlighted the club’s ability to compete at a high level while maintaining its strong traditional foundation.

In 2025, Senpai Abbygale Endrinal showcased exceptional skill and determination at the Batang Pinoy national tournament, securing a silver medal in Kumite—a testament to the quality of training and discipline instilled within the club.
